SANTA CLARA VALLEY (High School) ATHLETIC LEAGUE
SANTA CLARA VALLEY ATHLETIC LEAGUE
Originally established in 1973 the SCVAL consisted of 13 schools;
Awalt
Buchser
Cupertino
Fremont
Homestead
Los Altos
Lynbrook
Monta Vista
Mountain View
Peterson
Santa Clara
Sunnyvale
Wilcox
In 1974 the league split into two divisions; the De Anza League (DAL) and the El Camino League (ECL). Over the course of the last 30 years the SCVAL has undergone many changes:
•In 1976, Saratoga transferred from the West Valley Athletic League (WVAL) to the DAL.
•In 1981 Sunnyvale closed its doors and St. Francis joined the Girls Division.
•Around 1982, Mt. View closed and took up where Awalt was housed.
•Also around 1982, Santa Clara did the same by replacing Buchser.
•Circa 1983, Peterson was turned into a Middle School.
•In 1988 Los Gatos joined the DAL
•In 2002 St Francis left the DAL to join the WCAL (West Coast Athletic League).
Today, the league is a 14 school super league with Boys and Girls teams divided into two leagues (or divisions). The DAL (strong) and El Camino (weak) leagues are different for every sport within the SCVAL.

Santa Clara Homestead Little League
Santa Clara Homestead Little League is in full swing right now.
Games and practices are usually on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Twice a season, the kids in Farm League get to play on the Major Field. The kids enjoy playing on the Major Field because it has the atmosphere of a real playing field with announcers, bleachers, a home run fence, lines, etc.
The Home team's job is to set up the bases and rake before the game.
If you need to dry up some puddles, then throw QuickDry on them.
The Visiting team's job is to remove the bases, return the bases to the storage shack in Minor Field, then and rake after game.
The League provides each child a cap and a T-shirt with the team name + socks
Parents need to provide shoes (cleats for baseball or soccer are both ok), baseball pants (no shorts), belt, athletic supporter. Optional: Buy your own helmet. (Kids can also borrow a helmet every time they are at bat.). Parent can buy all this equipment at Sports Basement, Sports Authority, All Out Baseball (expensive), and/or Big5.

Apple's New Campus could cover a part of Pruneridge Avenue
Apple's huge 12,000 employee new campus could erase part of Pruneridge Avenue, splitting the remaining portions in two.
Steve Jobs spoke in the Cupertino City Council chamber on June 7th to announce the plans for Apple's new state-of-the-art campus in Cupertino on the site of what is now Hewlett-Packard. Job's slideshow presentation showed the site before and after. Pruneridge Avenue disappears once the gigantic ringed campus moves in.
The current HP campus is bounded by N. Wolfe and Homestead Roads and Pruneridge and N. Tantau Avenues. Pruneridge cuts through the middle of an area surrounded by what is now almost all Apple property, except for the Hamptons Apt Homes.
The Hewlett-Packard site is on the corner of Pruneridge Ave and N. Wolfe Road. Last year, HP announced it would combine its Cupertino operations with its Palo Alto campus. Apple purchases the land in late 2010. HP expects to move out completely by 2012.
Apple wants to break ground in 2012 and move into the new campus in 2015. The Infinite Loop campus near De Anza and 280 will continue to house its 2,600 employees.
Apple now owns 180 acres in Cupertino in and around the proposed new campus, according to the city. Cupertino Mayor Gilbert Wong says the project could get its first public hearing during a planning commission meeting in fall 2012.
