SANTA CLARA VALLEY (High School) ATHLETIC LEAGUE

SANTA CLARA VALLEY ATHLETIC LEAGUE Originally established in 1973 the SCVAL consisted of 13 schools; Awalt Buchser Cupertino Fremont Homestead Los Altos Lynbrook Monta Vista Mountain View Peterson Santa Clara Sunnyvale Wilcox In 1974 the league split into two divisions; the De Anza League (DAL) and the El Camino League (ECL). Over the course of the last 30 years the SCVAL has undergone many changes: •In 1976, Saratoga transferred from the West Valley Athletic League (WVAL) to the DAL. •In 1981 Sunnyvale closed its doors and St. Francis joined the Girls Division. •Around 1982, Mt. View closed and took up where Awalt was housed. •Also around 1982, Santa Clara did the same by replacing Buchser. •Circa 1983, Peterson was turned into a Middle School. •In 1988 Los Gatos joined the DAL •In 2002 St Francis left the DAL to join the WCAL (West Coast Athletic League). Today, the league is a 14 school super league with Boys and Girls teams divided into two leagues (or divisions). The DAL (strong) and El Camino (weak) leagues are different for every sport within the SCVAL. Potentially excellent deal, as long as you don't believe Asian/Indian superstitions.

The house is completely remodeled.  Most likely what is happening is Asian/Indian buyers do not like that the house number is 2440 and that the front door opens up to a T-intersection.

Boundaries Determined for Central Park and Pomeroy Elementary Schools of the Santa Clara Unified School District

Boundaries Determined for Central Park and Pomeroy Elementary Schools
image
Central Park Elementary School will re-open in Fall 2016 and serve as a public neighborhood school. Creating attendance area boundaries for the new school affects the attendance area boundaries of Pomeroy Elementary School.

After seeking and considering input from the Pomeroy Elementary School community on the proposed boundary options being considered by the Board of Education, the decision below was reached.

At the November 12 Santa Clara Unified School District board meeting, the Board of Education voted on the final school attendance area boundaries for Central Park Elementary School and Pomeroy Elementary School, selecting boundary option 3 (pictured below and on the school district website). The new boundaries take effect in the 2016-2017 school year.

The Board also voted to allow grandfathering for students currently enrolled (in the 2015-2016 school year) and their incoming siblings, if the older student is currently enrolled at Pomeroy Elementary School. Current enrollees wishing to be grandfathered must do so beginning with the 2016-2017 school year. Enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year begins on January 13, 2016. Additional information will be sent to the parents of current Pomeroy Elementary School students through the school.

Residential Egress Windows (2010 CBC) requirements in the City of Santa Clara

When you decide to get new windows, make sure the project meets all the current building standards. Some window companies are very conscientious of the building codes.  Other window companies quote a lower price, but aren't as concerned about meeting today's requirements.

Here are the minimum requirements for the City of Santa Clara:

http://santaclaraca.gov/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=1672

The "openable" area of the window has to be at least 5.7 sq ft, so that a person can fit through in case of fire. Moreover, the height of the bottom of the openable area can at most be 44” max. from bottom of the clear opening to the floor in egress windows in sleeping rooms because if the window opening is too high, people would have trouble reaching that height, even if the opening is large.

Fun Facts about the Santa Clara Unified School District Attendance Boundaries

Fun Facts about the Santa Clara Unified School District Attendance Boundaries

Here are some fun facts about the attendance boundaries in the Santa Clara Unified School District.

As expected, the major street El Camino Real is a hard boundary between the school attendance boundaries.

Students on the North side of El Camino Real are assigned to Wilcox High School.
Students on the South side of El Camino Real are assigned to Santa Clara High School.

Students who start at the northern tip of Santa Clara at Mayne Elementary will have to travel far to Don Callejon School for Middle School.

Students who start off in Montague Elementary will have to travel far to Buchser Middle School when they reach middle school age.

Students who go to Cabrillo Middle School will get assigned to either Wilcox High or Santa Clara High depending on which elementary school they went to.

Briarwood Elementary and Bower Elementary will go to Cabrillo Middle then Wilcox High.
Pomeroy Elementary will go to Cabrillo Middle then Santa Clara High.

Millikin Basics+ Elementary School moved from Central Park Elementary to Mariposa School

Millikin Basics+ Elementary School moved from Central Park Elementary to Mariposa School

The rising number of parents who wished to enroll their children in the Santa Clara Unified School District's Millikin Basics+ Elementary School prompted the school’s move away from its former site at Central Park Elementary on Sonoma Place (just north of Central Park) to a bigger campus at the former site of Mariposa School on Hobart Terrace on the West side of Mariposa Gardens in 2013.

Due to an unexpected population drop and unused capacity in neighboring schools, Central Park Elementary was closed in 2012.

After updating the former Mariposa school site, the Millikin Basics + program re-opened at the former Mariposa site in 2012-2013.

The new Millikin Basics+ Elementary School was formerly Mariposa School, established in 1956.
Mariposa School later closed due to declining enrollment, and then was rented out to another educational institution before the school district reclaimed it for the site of the new Millikin campus.
While the old Millikin campus held 402 students, the new campus holds 432 students.
